The best way to water Dendrobium orchids is by misting using a spray bottle. First gently mist the stems and leaves, ensuring even coverage. Then generously spray on the potting mix and around the roots to ensure the water gets to the roots. This method mimics the natural moisture they receive and prevents waterlogging. Using a spray bottle provides a controlled and gentle watering method that promotes optimal orchid health. Spraying also decreases the temperature and increases the humidity around the orchids which they love.
As a general guideline, water your orchids when the top layer of the potting mix feels slightly dry to the touch. During hot days you may need to water more frequently (~2 to 3 times a day). In contrast, reduce the frequency during colder days (~1 to 2 times a day). Always monitor the moisture level using touch and adjust the watering schedule based on the specific needs of your orchids to prevent overwatering.
It is generally better to underwater rather than overwater Dendrobium orchids. Orchids, including Dendrobiums, are epiphytic plants that prefer to dry out between watering sessions. Overwatering can lead to root rot and other fungal issues. It’s crucial to allow the top layer of the potting mix to dry before providing additional water. Underwatering, on the other hand, is often less harmful and can be corrected by adjusting the watering frequency.

You may use any organic liquid fertilizer diluted in water at the recommended dosage for orchids.
We offer two organic fertilizers from the renowned organic fertilizer manufacturer AxioGen BioTech. One fertilizer contributes to the plant’s overall growth and the second fertilizer strengthens the plant’s immunity while providing the boost required for flowering.
Each fertilizer can be applied once a week. For example, if you are using a growth fertilizer on Mondays, use a strength fertilizer on Fridays and continue this Monday-Friday routine repeatedly. Do not fertilize orchids more than twice a week.
Take approximately 2 ml of the fertilizer and dilute it in approximately 100 ml of water. Spray the mixture gently on the leaves, stems and generously spray the mixture on the potting medium around the roots. If you water your orchids without a spray bottle, then you can just pour the diluted fertilizer around the roots of the orchid. A 50ml bottle of fertilizer should last for 25 applications or approximately 6 months.
Not necessarily. The diluted solution can be used in multiple watering sessions throughout the day but the solution will be most effective for the orchid if it is used within 24 hours of diluting.
The fertilizer can be applied once a week.
Wait for the potting medium to be fairly dry to water the orchids after a fertilizing session.
○ First, remove the plant from the pot and place some charcoal evenly at the bottom of the pot
○ Use just enough charcoal so when the coconut husk sits on the charcoal, the base of the plant where the roots begin is almost parallel to the top of the pot
○ Use the charcoal to make the plant stand as upright as possible and fill the rest of the empty space in the pot with charcoal.
It is recommended to report orchids once every year.
